A terrible crime has been committed! The detectives are already on the scene, but the victim is speechless from the shock... And the huge crowd makes it seem like they have to look for a needle in a haystack... In the thick of the Clues is an intuitive, easy-to-learn, but endlessly playable and fast-paced party game.
The gameplay is most similar to browser / search engine games. The detectives have to look for the culprit based on the clues left by the victim while browsing through a very crowded picture, filled with many characters and events. There are three roles in the game: the victim, the culprit and the detectives. The victim and the perpetrator sit next to each other, separated from the detectives by a screen. On the part of the screen facing them is a miniature copy of the large map, as well as the drawing board and felt-tip pen. The detectives sit on the opposite side of the screen and browse the large map. At the beginning of the game, the perpetrator chooses a figure from the picture, shows it to the victim, who then tries to draw the best possible clues on the drawing board. However, before handing the board over to the detectives, the culprit can still erase certain things from the board, and the detectives must try to find the scene and the figure that the culprit previously chose from these incomplete traces. If they were successful, both the detectives and the victim won.
